The University of Mississippi compared product yield of crops grown in aeroponic growing systems and in soil. Researchers found the yields of plants grown with aeroponic technology were more than 30% bigger on average.

The fruits and vegetables grown in my Tower Garden are fresher and more delicious than any food I have ever bought in a grocery store.

Did you know? The average time it takes produce to be harvested, packed, shipped, unloaded, and then stocked onto the shelves at your local chain grocery store is a week. After a week of being moved around, you buy the produce and then bring it home, maybe you eat it right away, but probably instead, you stick it in the crisper in your fridge and plan to eat it over the next several days.

At the same time, fresh produce begins to lose its nutrient value immediately after harvest. University of California studies show that vegetables can lose 15 to 55 percent of vitamin C, for instance, within a week. Some spinach can lose 90 percent within the first 24 hours after harvest.

So, when I pick my produce right off the vine and eat it, I am getting the highest nutritional value I can get from my fruits and veggies.

Additionally, much of the produce bought in stores and stored in crispers, ends up being thrown away as it wilts and rots within days. When I pick what I want to eat, when I want to eat it, I waste less.
